Top 10 all-time leading passers in Washington HS football
1. Sam Huard, Kennedy Catholic (2017-21)
It was going to take a special player and an outstanding career to beat the marks that Brett Rypien set, but Huard was able to do so in his time at Kennedy Catholic. Like Rypien, Huard comes from a football family, as he is the son of former Washington standout and two-time Super Bowl champion Damon Huard, and the nephew of Brock Huard, who also starred for the Huskies and played in the NFL. His other uncle, Luke Huard, played college football at North Carolina as well.
As a result, Sam has seemed destined for stardom, and his high school career proved that as he broke Washington鈥檚 all-time career passing record in the spring of 2021, with 13,214 yards. He also sits third in passing touchdowns all time in the Evergreen State with 153. The five-star recruit followed the footsteps of his father and uncle by committing to Washington, but after some struggles to see the field, he has since transferred to Cal Poly for the 2023 season, reuniting him with his high school coach Sheldon Cross, who the Mustangs hired as their offensive coordinator this past January.
