Top 10 hitters in the 2023 NCAA D-I softball tournament
4. Valerie Cagle, UT, Clemson
Cagle is the rare exception of a player who can impact a game both in the batter鈥檚 box and in the circle as the redshirt junior is one of the nation鈥檚 best hitters and pitchers. From a hitting perspective, Cagle impressed as she finished the year slashing .465/.553/.906 with 74 hits, 18 home runs and 53 RBIs. Her batting average ranked sixth in the country while her 18 home runs ranked tenth and her 53 RBIs ranked tied for No. 24.
While Cagle may get more eyes for her performance as a pitcher, where she currently ranks No. 14 in the country in ERA, she is as formidable as a hitter as shown by her performance this year. Given her incredible two-way skills, expect Cagle to flourish in the tournament and perhaps help the 16-seed Tigers make a run to the WCWS.
