Top 10 Illinois high school baseball players in Class of 2023
4. Blake Wolters, RHP, Mahomet-Seymour
Out of all of the high school baseball pitchers in Illinois last season, Wolters was arguably the most impressive. Coming off a sophomore year where he put up a modest 3.02 ERA while going 5-3 with 38 strikeouts for Mahomet-Seymour, the 6-foot-4, 215-pound righty improved vastly in 2022, going a perfect 10-0 as he allowed just 23 hits over nearly 60 innings pitched. The first-team all-state pitcher also had an impressive 115 strikeouts and an incredible 0.23 ERA. Wolters led Mahomet-Seymour to the sectional finals, then went on to have a strong summer season with Yard Goat Baseball and Gators Baseball Academy, while also getting to pitch in the Perfect Game National Showcase and the Super 60 Showcase during the offseason. Once committed to Purdue, Wolters now plans to take his talents to Arizona following his senior season.
