3. Parker Detmers, RHP, Glenwood
The younger brother of Los Angeles Angels pitcher Reid Detmers, Parker Detmers may very well be on his own trajectory to the major leagues. As a sophomore at Glenwood High School, Parker had a respectable 5-3 record with a 2.60 ERA and 45 strikeouts. Last season, he vastly improved, going 10-2 on the mound. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound righty saved his best stuff for the postseason, striking out 12 batters in Glenwood鈥檚 sectional final victory, and a state-record tying 14 hitters in the state semifinals. Although the Titans fell just short of a title, Parker certainly has the potential to lead them back to state this season. After that, the all-state pitcher plans to play for the Louisville Cardinals, the same school where Reid starred.
Racking up strikeouts, throwing hard and having a good curveball must run in the family because RHP Parker Detmers was excellent today with a fastball up to 94 MPH.
