Top 10 Illinois high school baseball players in Class of 2023
5. Colin Barczi, C, Naperville Central
With Zion Rose off to play at IMG Academy, Barczi has become arguably Illinois’ top catcher in the Class of 2023. The Naperville Central standout has been fantastic in his first two seasons of high school baseball, beginning with a sophomore year in which he hit .455 with six home runs, 24 RBIs and 23 runs scored. Last year, the 6-foot-3, 210-pound slugger was even better, hitting .482 with 13 home runs and 31 RBIs. He also boasted an impressive .610 on-base percentage. In addition to playing travel ball in state with the Cangelosi Sparks, Barczi also got to compete in the Area Code games and Prep Baseball Report’s Super 60 Showcase over the past year. After his final season at Naperville Central, he plans to join one of college baseball’s powerhouse programs in Vanderbilt.Ìý
