D-I schools with men鈥檚 basketball and football national titles
Michigan (one basketball, 11 football)
Like Ohio State, Michigan is better known for its success on the gridiron rather than the hardwood. The Wolverines have won an astounding 11 national championships in football, most recently in 1997 when they were named co-champions with Nebraska.
Michigan鈥檚 lone basketball national championship came in 1989 when they defeated Seton Hall 80-79. The Wolverines have gotten close to a national championship multiple times on the basketball court with title game losses in both 1992, 1993, 2013 and 2018. In football, the closest Michigan has been to another national championship was in 2021 and 2022 when they finished No. 3 in the final AP polls after losing in the CFP semifinals.
