4. VCU
Out of all the teams on this list, VCU is probably the most well known, and it鈥檚 because they have been here before. The Rams shocked everyone with a Final Four run under Shaka Smart back in 2011, and have been a mainstay in the NCAA Tournament, making it back to the “big dance” eight times since. After missing out on the tourney last year, VCU looks poised to return in 2023 thanks to some strong leaders and do-it-all players in junior guard Adrian Baldwin Jr., transfer forward Brandon Johns Jr., and talented sophomore Jalen DeLoach.聽
As usual, the Rams are a strong defensive squad, and have proven so throughout the Atlantic 10 season, currently sitting at 14-3 in the conference, and 23-7 overall. VCU does have a quality win over Pittsburgh on its resume and an additional Power 5 victory over Vanderbilt. This program knows what it takes come March, and Mike Rhoades鈥� squad could be a threat yet again if in the tournament field.
