10 teams who could make a Cinderella run in March Madness
7. Charleston
At 28-3, Charleston holds the second-best record in all of Division I college basketball, second to only the No. 1-ranked Houston Cougars. A big reason why is a nine-deep rotation that features nearly six players who score in double digits. Leading the way in that pack is senior guard Dalton Bolton who scores nearly 13 points per game. The Cougars might not shoot the outside shot like some teams on this list, but they can certainly score, putting up 83 or more points in each of their last seven contests.
At 16-2 in the Colonial Athletic Conference, Charleston suffered just one loss in the non-conference season, a 16-point defeat to the then-No. 1 team in the country, the North Carolina Tar Heels. The Cougars have a notable Power 5 win over Virginia Tech on their resume, and do have five NCAA Tournament bids to their name, with the last coming in 2018. They may not be the most talented team out there, but Charleston is scrappy, and that could lead the Cougars to a big upset come March should they get past Hofstra, who also holds a 16-2 conference record, in the Colonial tournament.
28-3.
Just saying. 🌴🏀
