Top 10 Ohio high school baseball players in Class of 2023
5. Luke Vaughn, C, Elder
A couple of Alabama commits are in the top five of this list as Vaughn committed to the Crimson Tide last October after previously pledging to UCF. A dual-sport athlete who also plays basketball at Elder High School, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound catcher has been a big part of the Panthers’ success over the past couple of years. As a sophomore in 2021, Vaughn batted .393 as he helped lead Elder to a state championship appearance. Last season, Vaughn hit .360 while also racking up 34 RBIs and 20 runs. Outside of high school, Vaughn has starred for the Midland Redskins who he helped lead to an American Amateur Baseball Congress Connie Mack national championship last summer. Vaughn also had a chance to compete in the East Coast Pro showcase last year, as well as Prep Baseball Report’s Super 60 showcase just last month.
