Top 10 Ohio high school baseball players in Class of 2023
6. Tommy Skelding, RHP, Marlington
Skelding was a big reason for Marlington going 20-5 and earning its first Eastern Buckeye Conference (EBC) title since 2019 last season. Although the Dukes lost in the district finals, Skelding still had a tremendous year, going 8-1 with a 1.15 ERA and 68 strikeouts. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound pitcher wasn鈥檛 only dominant on the mound, but he also performed well at the plate with a .415 average, two home runs, 32 RBIs and 21 runs, earning EBC Player of the Year honors. That followed a sophomore season in which he put up similar numbers, batting .429 with 22 RBIs for the Dukes. Committed to the Kentucky Wildcats since August of 2020, Skelding has also shown why his future is so bright through his play with Bo Jackson Elite over the past few years.
2023 RHP is starting to ramp up down the mound. The commit was 91-92 (T92.7) with feel for a slider and change-up. He put on 20lb since last year as well.
Look for Tommy to show why he is a top ranked player in Ohio this spring.
