Every Heisman Trophy winner to win a Super Bowl championship
Jim Plunkett, Oakland Raiders, Super Bowls XV, XVIII
Plunkett is yet another Heisman–winning quarterback to win two Super Bowl championships and a Super Bowl MVP. As a senior in 1970, Plunkett won the Heisman after throwing for 2,980 yards and 22 total touchdowns (19 passing and three rushing) for the Stanford Cardinal.
After being drafted No. 1 overall in 1971 by the New England Patriots, Plunkett landed with the Raiders in 1979 after rough stops in New England and San Francisco. The quarterback rewrote his career with the Raiders, leading them to Super Bowl titles in 1980 and 1983. During the team鈥檚 first Super Bowl victory, Plunkett was named the game鈥檚 MVP after throwing for 261 yards and three touchdowns.
Happy Birthday Jim Plunkett.
