SEC鈥檚 top 10 basketball players with month left in season
5. Gregory Jackson II, F, South Carolina
While Brandon Miller has been the best freshman in the SEC and the entire country, Jackson II is not far behind. A five-star prospect originally committed to North Carolina, Jackson II decommitted from the Tar Heels, reclassified, and came to South Carolina, where, despite beginning his college career at just 17 years old, he has proven to be one of the best talents in a deep Power 5 conference.
On the year, Jackson II has averaged just over 16 points and 6.5 rebounds. His 39% shooting and 34% shooting from deep could be improved, but Jackson II still provides a lot of the scoring for a Gamecocks team that is just 1-10 in SEC play and 8-16 overall. Scoring in double digits in all but two games, the 6-foot-9 forward has put up several big performances, highlighted by a 30-point effort against Auburn in January. Jackson II will likely head off to the NBA following his freshman season, but fans will be able to enjoy another month of the first-year superstar at South Carolina.
