Zack Martin, Mark Clayton top Indianapolis’ 10 best NFL stars
5. Rosevelt Colvin, LB, Broad Ripple
Colvin was a star on the hardwood and the gridiron at Broad Ripple High School. On the football field, the linebacker earned all-state honors in each of his final two seasons, also setting a single-season program record for tackles as a senior. Colvin stayed in state for his college career by playing for the Purdue Boilermakers – the same school his son Myles will soon attend for basketball. After showcasing his talent in West Lafayette, Colvin was selected in the fourth round, No. 111 overall, in the 1999 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. Following a slow rookie season, Colvin became a starter in his final three years in the Windy City, making 10.5 sacks in each 2001 and 2002. In 2003, he joined an emerging Patriots dynasty, winning back-to-back Super Bowl championships in ‘03 and ‘04. Colvin maintained a starting role on the Pats defense over the next few years and retired after the 2008 season with 373 tackles, 52.5 sacks and 17 forced fumbles in his career. Â
