As a standout athlete, Davis ultimately chose to attend Illinois. He was named to the Freshman All-American team and played a crucial factor in Illinois reaching the 2008 Rose Bowl. Davis decided to forgo his senior season, and he was drafted in the 2009 NFL Draft with the No. 25 overall pick by the Miami Dolphins.
