At Coolidge High School, Porter was awarded a Blue Chip All-American and was an all-state player. Along with football, Porter also starred in basketball, track and field and baseball. Being the standout athlete he was, Porter decided to attend West Virginia. He would only play three years in Morgantown before declaring for the 2000 NFL Draft. With the No. 4 overall pick, Porter was selected by the Raiders. He suited up for seven seasons with Oakland, however, he would be plagued with injuries following the 2007 season. Porter finished his career with 295 receptions for 4,120 yards and 31 touchdowns.
