Percy Harvin, Plaxico Burress among Virginia Beach NFL stars
2. Plaxico Burress, WR, Green Run
Burress took a completely different route when it came to him going to the Division I level. After excelling at Green Run, the wideout would join the post-graduate football program at Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia where he got the attention of scouts and joined Nick Saban鈥檚 Michigan State program. In just two seasons in East Lansing, Burress played in 24 games recording 131 receptions, 2,155 yards and 20 touchdowns. The wide receiver was selected in the first round with the No. 8 overall pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Burress played five years in Pittsburgh before joining the New York Giants in 2005 and helping the team win the Super Bowl in 2007. He later joined the New York Jets for a season and Pittsburgh again for his final year. A two-year suspension from the NFL ultimately took away some prime years for Burress as he finished his NFL career playing in 148 games with 138 starts, 553 receptions, 8,499 receiving yards and 64 touchdowns.
