Ranking the 10 greatest Cleveland Guardians of all time

8. Larry Doby, OF (1947-55)

Doby is one of several Baseball Hall of Fame members to play in Cleveland as he was inducted into Cooperstown in 1998. Doby’s professional baseball career began in the Negro º£½ÇÉçÇø before he became a seven-time All-Star in Cleveland, making consecutive appearances from 1949-55. He twice led the American League with 32 home runs during that span, and also led the league with 104 runs in 1952, and 126 RBIs in 1954, a year he finished second in MVP voting. Doby’s name still appears frequently in the Guardians’ record books, as he ranks in the top 10 all time in home runs, RBIs, walks, on-base percentage and OPS. Doby, who was also a member of Cleveland’s 1948 World Series championship team, had his number retired by the franchise in 1994, and was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 1966.
