LSU has multiple freshmen worth highlighting this season, one being Tori Edwards who has made a strong Tigers lineup even more potent while hitting .431 with nine home runs and 39 RBIs through the first month or so of the season. However, the Tigers have also needed someone to step up in the circle alongside ace Sydney Berzon, and Heavener has done just that. The highly touted pitcher from Florida has emerged as an instant star in Baton Rouge, throwing a perfect game with 13 strikeouts in her collegiate debut. Overall, Heavener has gone 7-1 with a 1.76 ERA and 78 strikeouts, ranking fifth among freshmen across the country. Heavener has quickly lived up to the billing and possesses superstar potential for a top-five team in the country.
