9. Xavier Musketeers
Xavier looked far from an NCAA Tournament team in early January at just 1-4 in Big East play and 9-7 overall. Sean Miller鈥檚 squad has turned things around since, winning six straight games and 11 of its last 14 contests. If Xavier takes care of business against Providence to close the regular season, the Musketeers could finish as high as third in the Big East and would likely secure a spot in the Big Dance with a nice run in the Big East tournament. Xavier鈥檚 resume lacks signature wins, but the Musketeers did get a victory at Marquette and recently beat Creighton by 22 points. Xavier鈥檚 offense led by Zach Freemantle and Ryan Conwell has been its strength, but its defense has performed well in its notable victories. With an experienced coach like Miller, the Musketeers could produce a first-round upset as an 11 or 12 seed.
