Craig Smith fired: 5 Utah basketball head coach candidates
SALT LAKE CITY (BVM) – The Utah Utes have fired men’s basketball head coach Craig Smith after nearly four seasons with the program.Â
Smith went 65-62 during his time in Salt Lake City after taking over for Larry Krystkowiak and coached the Utes to a 15-12 record this season while going 7-9 in the program’s first Big 12 campaign. Unless Utah makes an unlikely run to win the Big 12 conference tournament, the Utes will miss the NCAA Tournament for the ninth consecutive year.
With Smith out, Utah will begin the search for a head coach who can right the ship and help the Utes compete in the Big 12 while ending their NCAA Tournament drought. Here’s a look at five candidates to become Utah’s next men’s basketball head coach.
