Ranking the best Big Ten basketball players at midway point
6. Dawson Garcia, F, Minnesota
Garcia doesn鈥檛 garner the most attention among players on this list but the fifth-year senior remains one of the Big Ten鈥檚 top stars. Minnesota sits near the bottom of the Big Ten standings, but the Golden Gophers have been competitive lately, earning wins over ranked opponents like Michigan and Oregon. Garcia was fantastic in both of those games, scoring 27 and 31 points, respectively. Overall, the 6-foot-11 forward is averaging 20.1 points, the second-most in the Big Ten. Garcia is also averaging a career-best 7.4 rebounds while shooting a career-high 51% from the field and 37.5% from 3-point range. While Minnesota lacks the postseason upside that several teams have in the Big Ten, Garcia鈥檚 special play has not gone unnoticed and he could help Minnesota pull off additional upset wins before all is said and done.
