Tawee Walker transferring: 5 possible landing spots for RB
Iowa Hawkeyes
Even with Iowa’s transition at offensive coordinator to Tim Lester, the Hawkeyes have remained a run-heavy team. Kaleb Johnson emerged as one of the top running backs in college football in 2024, carrying the ball 240 times during the regular season for 1,537 yards and 21 touchdowns. However, Johnson is off to the pros, leaving a big hole in the Hawkeyes’ running back room. Iowa, the No. 2-ranked rushing team in the Big Ten in 2024, has a couple of young backs who can pick up some of the slack with Kamari Moulton and Jaziun Patterson. While one of those backs may ultimately be the future of Iowa’s rushing attack, adding a veteran like Walker to share the workload could make sense for Kirk Ferentz. His physicality in the backfield and veteran leadership may be beneficial in Iowa City.
