Penn State has had a nice year in 2024, earning its fifth double-digit win season of the James Franklin era. The Nittany Lions will finally have a chance to compete in the College Football Playoff with the field expanding to 12 teams, but some offseason additions may be required to ultimately get them over the hump in the Big Ten. One of the biggest needs for Penn State could be adding another pass catcher as 1,000-yard tight end Tyler Warren is likely off to the NFL. The Nittany Lions have a nice group of junior wideouts with Harrison Wallace III, Omari Evans and Liam Clifford, but will lose another depth piece with senior Julian Fleming. Fields could be a perfect big-bodied target for Drew Allar and has a connection in State College as former Virginia wide receivers coach Marques Hagans currently serves in the same role at Penn State.
