John Mateer transferring: 5 possible landing spots for QB
Ole Miss Rebels
Ole Miss fell just shy of a playoff berth in 2024, finishing the regular season fourth in the SEC with a 9-3 record. The Rebels will look to take the next step in 2025 and will likely need to maintain a high-flying passing attack. Ole Miss’ passing offense ranked No. 3 in the country during the 2024 regular season behind senior Jaxson Dart. However, Dart is out of eligibility and potential replacement Walker Howard recently entered the transfer portal. Skilled freshman Austin Simmons remains on the roster, but Mateer would be a more experienced option with a roster built to compete for an SEC championship. Mateer would seemingly be a nice fit in offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr.’s system as well with a similar skill set to Dart.
