After sitting behind 2024 Heisman finalist Cam Ward at Washington State last season, Mateer earned the opportunity to start in Pullman this year and emerged as one of the top quarterbacks in the country. Overall, the 6-foot-1, 220-pound signal caller threw for 3,139 yards, 29 touchdowns and seven interceptions, completing 64.6% of his passes while posting a 71.3 quarterback rating.
Mateer also proved his dual-threat ability with the 8-4 Cougars, racking up 826 yards and 15 scores with his legs. Mateer’s dynamic skill set gives him immense upside and he will likely garner significant Power 4 interest in the portal, with to him already.
