Top 5 matchups for Week 11 of the 2024 college football season
2. No. 3 Georgia at No. 16 Ole Miss – Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET, ABC
Georgia and Ole Miss have a long rivalry dating back to 1940 and have played 46 games against each other, including annual matchups from 1966-2002. The two teams have played just six times in the last two decades, but Georgia has continued to dominate the series with a 33-12-1 record and won last year’s matchup in a 35-point blowout.
The No. 2 Bulldogs are only a slight favorite to beat the Rebels again though, and Ole Miss won the last time the teams met in Oxford in 2016. Georgia often hasn’t looked like its typically dominant self this season, struggling in close wins against Kentucky, Mississippi State and Florida, and in its lone loss to Alabama. However, the Dawgs have proven capable of big road wins, and another one in Oxford could all but solidify their playoff spot. One of the biggest keys to doing so will be finding success through the air as Georgia has the nation’s 12th-ranked passing attack led by Carson Beck.
The Bulldogs’ defense has also remained solid as the 12th-ranked unit in the country but is in for a significant test against Ole Miss. The Rebels have the No. 2-ranked offense in the country as they put up over 555 yards per game, and rank fourth in scoring at 42.1 points per contest. They also have the top-ranked passing attack led by Jaxson Dart who already has over 3,200 yards on the season. Dart threw for 515 yards last week in a blowout win over Arkansas and will need to be at his best on Saturday for 7-2 Ole Miss to keep its playoff hopes alive.
