Top 10 Virginia Cavaliers football players of all time
3. Thomas Jones, RB (1996-99)
Jones followed a legendary high school career in the state by becoming the University of Virginia’s all-time rushing leader (3,998 yards).
His 1,798-yard ground effort in 1999 stood as an ACC single-season record until Boston College’s Andre Williams eclipsed it 14 years later. Along with an eighth-place finish in Heisman Trophy balloting, Jones was a consensus first-team All-American as a senior.
It was the first time the ACC had a running back earn that honor in such concurrence since 1978.
