5. Chris Slade, DE (1989-92)
While becoming the first Virginia player to be named an All-American in two different campaigns, Slade set the school and conference record for career sacks (40).
When all was said and done for him in Charlottesville, Slade was the Cavaliers’ all-time leader in tackles for loss (56) and was fifth on the program’s tackles list (299).
Slade was a Wahoos team captain in 1992, a go-round in which was picked as the national defensive player of the year by The Football News. He was selected to the ACC’s 50th Anniversary Team in 2002.
