Top 10 Virginia Cavaliers football players of all time
7. Anthony Poindexter, DB (1995-98)
Poindexter was usually in the mix, and ball-carriers felt it when he toppled them.
The two-time consensus All-American and 1998 ACC Defensive Player of the Year had more career tackles (342) than any defensive back in conference annals when his Virginia career ended. He was a two-time team captain in Charlottesville.
A Lynchburg, Va., native, Poindexter is one of three Cavaliers to collect first-team All-ACC recognition three times. In 2020, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
