Top 5 matchups for Week 6 of the 2024 college football season

2. No. 10 Michigan at Washington – Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET, NBC

Michigan and Washington have played some notable games against each other, none bigger than last season鈥檚 national championship won by the Wolverines, 34-13. The Huskies have also faced off with Michigan in four Rose Bowl games since 1978. Overall, Michigan has won nine of 14 contests against Washington and will seek win No. 10 on Saturday while playing in Seattle for just the fifth time and the first time since 2001.

Despite being ranked No. 10, Michigan is a slight road underdog as it has yet to regain its championship form from a year ago. The Wolverines are 4-1 and had a nice win over USC a couple of weeks ago, but they also suffered an ugly Week 2 loss to Texas and nearly blew a big lead to Minnesota this past weekend. Michigan has remained relatively solid defensively under new head coach Sheronne Moore, but the offense continues to be a work in progress, outside of the emergence of running back Kalel Mullings, with Alex Orji under center.

If the Huskies can make enough plays against the Michigan defense, they could earn their fourth win of the season as they are more than capable of outscoring the Wolverines. However, offense was hard to come by in their last game at Rutgers where they scored just 18 points and it was also an issue in an earlier loss to Washington State. Washington still has the 21st-ranked offense in the country though, in large part thanks to a passing attack led by Will Rogers, while its 10th-ranked defense is allowing just 249.8 yards per game and could make the sledding tough for Orji and the Michigan offense.
