Ranking the top 10 Utah Utes football players of all time
3. Scott Mitchell, QB (1987-90)
While it’s not entirely possible to say, there’s a chance that Utah doesn’t reach the stage it’s on now without Mitchell, who for the longest time had planned on playing for archrival BYU.
His name is chiseled at the top of a lot of Utes charts.
No Utah signal-caller has thrown more in a game, season, or career. When he departed from Salt Lake City, the same was the case for touchdown passes.
Mitchell also paces the pack in career passing yards (8,981), 200-yard passing games (23) and 300-yard passing games (14).
