Top 10 Illinois defensive players for 2024 HS football season
6. McHale Blade, Jr., Simeon
Blade will form a dynamic duo on Simeon鈥檚 defensive line this season alongside Class of 2025 four-star recruit Christopher Burgess Jr. as the Wolverines look to improve on their .500 record from last year. Last season, Blade flashed plenty of potential while playing at Hillcrest High School as he made 22 total tackles, five tackles for loss, and 1 陆 sacks across seven games, showcasing good speed and physicality. The 6-foot-4, 230-pound defensive lineman鈥檚 sophomore season has also helped him rise in the recruiting rankings as he went from little D-I interest to currently holding over two dozen offers from programs like Michigan, Notre Dame, Tennessee and USC. The prospect should only see his offer list grow with another strong season this fall.
