3. Ryan Fitzgerald, Sr., Loyola Academy
Fitzgerald鈥檚 name is well known in Illinois as he is the son of former Northwestern linebacker and head coach Pat Fitzgerald. Ryan has made a name for himself on the gridiron over the past couple of years and is coming off a junior season where he helped Loyola Academy to a perfect 14-0 record and its second consecutive IHSA Class 8A state championship. Ryan was at the forefront of the Ramblers鈥� perfect season, passing for 2,141 yards, 20 touchdowns and just one interception with a 64% completion rate. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound signal caller is also a threat with his legs and ran for 634 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2023 as well. Loyola Academy should again be one of the top teams in the state this season behind its star quarterback who will follow his father鈥檚 footsteps to the Big Ten at Iowa as a preferred walk-on.
