Ranking each Big Ten football head coach entering 2024 season
5. Kirk Ferentz, Iowa
There鈥檚 something to be said for longevity in an ever-changing college football landscape and Ferentz has had it as the head coach at Iowa since 1999. Ferentz has gone 196-119 across those 25 seasons with a pair of Big Ten championships and 10 bowl wins. The Hawkeyes also won three Big Ten West division titles in recent years, including last season as they went 10-4. The four-time Big Ten Coach of the Year hasn鈥檛 had a losing season in Iowa City since 2012 which is one of just two losing seasons since 2001. Ferentz continues to prove he and the program are a model of consistency and that shouldn鈥檛 change in 2024, even in a new-look Big Ten. Perhaps the biggest key for the 69-year-old this season will be how Tim Lester turns around the Iowa offense after replacing Ferentz鈥檚 son, Brian Ferentz, as offensive coordinator.
