Ranking each Big Ten football head coach entering 2024 season
10. P.J. Fleck, Minnesota
Fleck has been at Minnesota since 2017 following his successful stint at Western Michigan and has led the Golden Gophers to a respectable 50-34 overall record with winning seasons in four of seven campaigns. The 2019 Big Ten Coach of the Year has been good, but he hasn鈥檛 quite been able to take Minnesota to the next level outside of its 11-2 campaign in 2019. The 43-year-old has shown an innate ability to relate to his players and get them to buy in, and has also instilled a hard-nosed culture at Minnesota. His consistency and perfect 5-0 record in bowl games with the Gophers are hard to match, but there could be some pressure in the new-look Big Ten for Fleck coming off a losing season that suggests Minnesota is still at least a tier behind several of the top teams in the Big Ten.
