NiJaree Canady enters transfer portal: 5 possible landing spots
Texas Longhorns
Texas had a tremendous 2024 season, winning 55 games and reaching the finals of the Women’s College World Series for the second time in three seasons. Both of the Longhorns’ losses in the championship series have come at the hands of rival Oklahoma, so they may be looking to make a splash acquisition or two to finally get past the Sooners. Canady certainly would be a significant addition and would give Texas arguably the deepest group of starting pitchers in the country alongside rising senior Mac Morgan, rising junior Citlaly Gutierrez and rising sophomore Teagan Kavan. With Canady also being a rising junior, the Longhorns would have a staff in place that could make them a championship favorite in back-to-back seasons while also keeping the arguably best pitcher in college softball away from their rival.
