10 most impactful players for 2024 Women鈥檚 College World Series
Jala Wright, P, Duke
Duke will make its first Women鈥檚 College World Series appearance but gets a tough draw, first facing Oklahoma while needing to get by the Sooners, UCLA and Alabama in order to get to the finals. The Blue Devils will need big contributions from their lineup including from ACC Player of the Year Claire Davidson, but it鈥檚 the ACC Pitcher of the Year and first-team All-American, Wright, who may ultimately give Duke a chance at pulling an upset. Wright has led a strong staff that also features Cassidy Curd and Lillie Walker, going 19-2 in 26 starts with a 1.28 ERA that ranks seventh in the country. The 5-foot-10 senior also has a 0.95 WHIP, .176 opponent batting average and 187 strikeouts. Wright鈥檚 ability to limit some potent lineups on Duke鈥檚 side of the bracket could make a historic season for the Blue Devils even more special.
