10 best hitters from the 2024 college softball season
Cori McMillan, UTL Virginia Tech
Virginia Tech went 39-11-1 in the regular season, including a perfect 17-0 at home, thanks in large part to a dominant lineup featuring potent hitters like Emma Ritter, Addy Greene, Michelle Chatfield and McMillan. While each could be considered in this spot, McMillan feels like the hardest piece to replace. On the season, the 5-foot-9 junior has hit .393 with a .485 on-base percentage, a .900 slugging percentage and a team-leading 1.385 OPS. McMillan was named Softball America鈥檚 player of the month in April as she hit nine home runs, part of 20 long balls overall in 2024 which set a single-season program record. She has also added 60 RBIs and 126 total bases and has gone a perfect 20-for-20 on steal attempts. The Hokies will have a chance to make some noise in the next few weeks and McMillan will undoubtedly be at the core of that.
