Top 10 freshman NCAA softball players during 2024 season
6. Michelle Chatfield, IF, Virginia Tech
Virginia Tech has had a strong 2024 season thus far and one of the big reasons why has been the emergence of its freshman star, Chatfield. The 6-foot Virginia native is one of the top power hitters in this season鈥檚 freshman class and has also been one of the best at hitting the long ball overall across the country with 15 home runs this season, the sixth-most among Division I players. Chatfield is also hitting .315 with a .796 slugging percentage and a 1.209 OPS while adding 28 RBIs and 27 runs. Chatfield鈥檚 power has the ability to change games and will likely be a key factor in the Hokies鈥� success down the stretch.
