While Perfect Game has Russell ranked as its eighth-best player in the state in this class, Diamond Prospects holds the shortstop in a bit higher of regard, as its No. 4 talent.
Russell can also spin it from the mound as a right-hander, with his fastball sitting in the upper 80s during the World Wood Bat Association (WWBA) World Championships last fall. MaxPreps stats indicate Russell batted .311 with a dozen RBIs for the Wildcats last season. He’s committed to play at the University of South Carolina following his prep career.
