Top 10 California HS baseball players in Class of 2024
9. Nicholas Montgomery, C, Cypress
Montgomery has an incredibly bright future and should have a nice finish to his prep career this season. The senior is a strong power hitter thanks to his 6-foot-4, 210-pound frame but also has good speed as he was clocked running the 60-yard dash at 6.84 seconds last year. That blend of speed and power has been on full display during his time at Cypress High School, as has his defensive ability as a catcher. Montgomery has also performed well throughout the past year competing in the MLB Prospect Development Pipeline and at the Area Code Games. He had an opportunity to partake in the 2023 MLB All-Star High School Home Run Derby as well. Montgomery could be hitting more home runs in MLB ballparks sooner than later but may first play at Arizona State after officially signing with the Sun Devils in November.
