Ranking the Pac-12’s best basketball players at midway point
9. Adem Bona, F, UCLA
The Pac-12 features a lot of offensive talent, but Bona makes this list primarily for what he’s done on the defensive end for UCLA in the first half of the season. Bona has averaged 1.2 steals and two blocks this season and is hard to beat defensively down low. Following a 22-point outing in a win over Washington in mid-January, Bona had a line he may be even more proud of in the Bruins’ next game against Arizona State that included nine points, six rebounds, five assists and seven blocks. The 6-foot-10 sophomore has been effective overall for the Bruins’ offense as well, averaging 12.1 points and 6.2 rebounds while shooting nearly 60% from the field. Staying out of foul trouble has been a slight issue, but Bona’s physicality and athleticism make him one of the most exciting young players in the conference.
