College basketball鈥檚 top 10 freshmen so far in 2023-24 season
7. Carlton Carrington, G, Pittsburgh
Carrington burst onto the scene in his first collegiate matchup, posting a triple-double with 18 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in a 48-point win over North Carolina A&T. In 16 games thus far, he鈥檚 scored double digits 14 times on 41.3% shooting from the field. Pittsburgh is currently dead last in the ACC but Carrington was impressive in losses to Duke and North Carolina, combining for 30 points, 8 boards and four assists across those two ranked matchups. The 6-5 guard can be a bit turnover-prone at times but the Panthers trust him as their offensive leader.
Fringe top-100 recruit Carlton 鈥淏ub鈥 Carrington has commanded the attention of NBA front offices with clear upside as a late-blooming 6-foot-5 lead guard with natural scoring instincts, playmaking feel, and a frame capable of adding functional strength in years to come.
