Ranking 10 early favorites to win the 2024 Heisman Trophy
2. Dillon Gabriel, QB, Oregon
Gabriel surprised many when he announced he was entering the transfer portal after two seasons at Oklahoma. While he could have entered the NFL draft, playing one final season of college football at Oregon should certainly enhance his value and is likely to have him in the Heisman conversation next fall just as another experienced transfer quarterback, Bo Nix, was for the Ducks in 2023. Across five seasons of college football, Gabriel has amassed nearly 15,000 passing yards. The 2023 season was his best yet as he threw for 3,660 yards, 30 touchdowns and just six interceptions, completing 69.3% of his passes. The 5-foot-11 quarterback has also become a threat with his legs with 373 yards and 12 scores on the ground this season. He possesses elite potential as he heads to play for Dan Lanning in Eugene.
