Ty Thompson transferring; 5 landing spots for signal caller
1. Miami (FL)
Miami seems to be the likeliest destination for Thompson. The quarterback was originally recruited to Oregon by current Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal and Cristobal’s unit needs quarterback help following the transfer of last season’s starter Tyler Van Dyke. While Miami may want to see what bowl starter Jacurri Brown could do in a full season, they have been actively looking for signal callers in the transfer portal.
Though Thompson may not have the same experience or name recognition as other quarterbacks in the portal, he would know the Hurricanes’ offense and the expectations of Cristobal which could make for an easy transition. For Thompson, he would get the opportunity to start for a Power 5 team for the coach he originally committed to and perhaps benefit from one of the country’s best programs in terms of NIL which would be appealing.
