EJ Warner enters transfer portal; 5 landing spots for QB
Illinois
On paper, the Fighting Illini don鈥檛 seem to be an obvious fit for EJ. They have Week 1 starter Luke Altmyer on the roster with two years of eligibility remaining. However, Altmyer wasn鈥檛 impressive during the season, throwing for 1,883 yards, 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions before losing his starting spot to John Paddock at the end of the year. With Paddock exhausting his eligibility, Illinois may want to bring in some competition to push Altmyer.
That is where EJ would fit. EJ has a relationship with Illini offensive analyst . Not only was Messingham the offensive coordinator who helped convince EJ鈥檚 older brother Kade to join the Kansas State program, but he was also in the same quarterback room at Northern Iowa that Kurt was in during his college days. If the Warner family still holds Messingham in high regard, he may be enough to help convince EJ to make the move to Champaign, giving him the chance to lead a Power 5 program in the process.
