Top 10 Big Ten basketball players entering 2023-24 season
3. Tyson Walker, G, Michigan StateÂ
Walker made his name known in March as he scored 23 points in Michigan State’s upset of No. 2 seed Marquette in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, but the senior guard’s success goes back much further than that. Walker began his collegiate career at Northeastern where he became an 18-point-per-game scorer before transferring to Michigan State for the 2021-22 season. While his production took a hit, Walker proved to be the versatile type of guard Tom Izzo has always coveted. Last year, Walker had arguably his best season of college basketball yet, averaging 14.8 points – over 6.5 more points than he averaged the prior season – as well as 2.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.1 steals while shooting nearly 46% from the field, and 41.5% from 3-point range. Alongside A.J. Hoggard, Walker will provide plenty of experience to one of the most talented teams Izzo has had in East Lansing in a few years.
