Ranking the top 10 SEC players entering 2023-24 season
9. Grant Nelson, F, Alabama
Alabama lost a lot from a team that was the No. 1 overall seed in last year鈥檚 NCAA Tournament, but they did land one of the most sought-after players in the transfer portal this offseason in Nelson. How Nelson鈥檚 game will translate to the SEC is a fair question, but his talent is undeniable. The 6-foot-11 forward was tremendous in three seasons at North Dakota State and took a big step forward last year, averaging just shy of 18 points as well as 9.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.7 blocks. Nelson鈥檚 3-point shooting efficiency did decline, but he still shot a solid 52.1% from the field overall. Nelson may not post the same gaudy numbers right away in Tuscaloosa, but he immediately slots in as one of the SEC鈥檚 best shotmakers.
