Ranking the top 10 SEC players entering 2023-24 season
10. Davonte Davis, G, Arkansas
Davis is one of a few veteran guards on this list, and while there might be guys who are more talented in the SEC, the experience and consistency of Davis makes him one of the best players in the conference. While Davis didn’t post huge numbers as a freshman, he burst on the scene while averaging 14.3 points during Arkansas’ surprise Elite Eight run that season. He didn’t quite have the same performance as the Razorbacks made another trip to the Elite Eight the following year, but his increased role set the stage for a solid junior season in which he averaged 10.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.4 steals while shooting nearly 35% from 3-point range. One of Davis’ best games last year came in the NCAA Tournament again with a 25-point effort in Arkansas’ upset of Kansas. With some new additions and a healthy Trevon Brazile, the sky’s the limit for the Razorbacks, and their 6-foot-4 senior guard will be at the forefront of their success.
