3. Oklahoma State Cowboys

Oklahoma State started slow but has come on in recent weeks, and the Cowboys are now in position to steal a Big 12 title from some of the other heavyweights in the conference. In Week 3, the Pokes were at a low point, losing a non-conference game to South Alabama, 33-7. The following week, Oklahoma State also lost its Big 12 opener to Iowa State by a touchdown. Since, the Cowboys have won four straight, including one-score victories over a ranked Kansas squad as well as Kansas State, and recent blowouts of West Virginia and Cincinnati.

While quarterback Alan Bowman has been solid, Oklahoma State features one of the top rushing offenses in the nation behind Ollie Gordon II who has already ran for 1,087 yards and 10 touchdowns on the season. Gordon II has been unbelievable in his last two games, rushing for 282 yards against the Mountaineers, and 271 yards versus the Bearcats. 

Gordon II’s biggest test and the Cowboys’ biggest game remaining on the schedule comes this weekend in the final Big 12 edition of Bedlam versus Oklahoma. If they can take advantage at home of a team coming off of a tough road loss in the Sooners, the Cowboys then have winnable games against UCF, BYU and Houston down the home stretch which could lead them to finish the conference season at 8-1, and essentially assure them a spot in the Big 12 title game.
